The basketball team recovers the lost spark
Durango
Gustavo Ayon, captain of the Mexican national basketball team that competes in the 2014 World Championship in Spain, said that there is no pressure on the team's shoulders despite the two losses they faced while starting their participation in the Group D.
Mexico has the potential to advance to the next stage after defeating Angola in the Gran Canaria Arena --with a score of 79-55-- and at the end of the match the team leader denied any kind of pressure on the players.
"We felt no pressure at all, we were focused in playing right just like when we played against Lithuania or Slovenia; in this last game, we managed to be engaged to the game for 40 minutes in a row and we made it as a team," said Ayon.
"If we win, if we aspire to something, we have to play as a team because only one of us is not enough against any enemy, we need each other," he said.
Although the victory was achieved, the most important thing for Ayon was that finally some players recovered the spark that was missing when they faced both Lithuania and Slovenia.
"We had to win this match, and it was possible after the recovery of key players like Hector Hernandez who did a great job as an attacker tonight," he said.
He added that "Roman Martinez did a great job as well allowing a more effective role playing among the team."
